So we want to invite you to experience it for yourself. Become an Inca Ambassador – book today.

This Peru travel package begins on our country’s famous desert coast. Stop in Lima to experience the best of our food and metropolitan culture. After days of delicious seafood and nights of live music, we’ll head south to sandboard and go-kart around the picture-perfect desert of Huacachina and Paracas. This nationally protected land used to be completely underwater, giving it a one of a kind landscape and plenty of surprise fossils buried in the sand.

We’ll then visit Nazca, for a flight above the ancient geoglyphs of the same name. Carved into the desert floor, the enigmatic Nazca Lines still puzzle historians to this day. During your flight, you will have the best view to see the intricately designed shapes.

Continuing our journey, we will visit Arequipa to explore the famous white city and raft daringly down a remote and raging river before spending time in the second deepest canyon in the world, Colca. If you’re lucky, you might spot the largest flying bird in the world, the condor. We will make our way next to the cultural treasure that is Lake Titicaca. The folkloric capital of Peru, the region is the perfect place to experience authentic Peruvian culture. Spend the night in the home of a local family and stay up late learning about the traditions and music of the Andean people.

Adventure on to the imperial city of Cuzco, and tour famous sites like Ollantaytambo ruins, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and more. In the Sacred Valley, you will stay in a local community and contribute to social projects in the area. Finally, it will be time for what you have been waiting for all along your journey to Machu Picchu. Trek for four days along the original Inca Trail beside alpacas, raging rivers, local farmers, and steep mountain peaks, before arriving at the sun gate that will give you your first glimpse at Machu Picchu.

After plenty of photo ops and new historical knowledge, you will head to your final destination, the Amazon Jungle. Spend your days visiting endemic flora and fauna, exploring remote trails and rivers, and enjoying the last few days of your Peru travel package. When this 22-day trip is up, you will go home feeling like you have checked off your Peru Bucket List (though we’re pretty sure you will still want to come back!).

You are the Indiana Jones or Lara Croft of your expedition…action! We will get ready early to start our adventure. We will meet with our guide for the trek and leave together.

The Inca Trail waits for you with its majestic and impressive landscapes, streams, Inca ruins, and more!

Between 7.00 am – 8.00 am our private transport and staff will pick you up from our hotel. We will drive to Piskacuchu (2700m/8856ft), which is the starting point of the Inca Trail. We begin our hike by crossing the bridge over the Urubamba River and walking along its left shore as it flows northwest along the Sacred Valley. Following the trail along a flat terrain, we arrive in Miskay (2800m/9184ft), to then climb and finally see, from the tallest part of an overlook the impressive Inca city of Llactapata (2650m/8692ft). We continue trekking along the valley created by the Kusichaca River, gradually climbing for about five hours until we reach the community of Wayllabamba (3000m/9840ft), where we set our first camp. All along the way, we enjoy spectacular views of the Vilcanota point on the opposite side of the Urubamba River, where the impressive Veronica peak reigns at 5832 m.a.s.l.

Once arrived, it’s time to start our trek along the same paths where the Incas used to walk! This day is not challenging at all. It will help you to get used to the terrain and use this day as a small warm-up for the next few days. Enjoy pure nature with its mountains, rivers, and fields!

Day 16Inca Trail

We wake up at around 6:00 am and after breakfast, we begin the most difficult part of the trek, which consists of a steep climb that stretches for 9 km. On the way to the first mountain pass, the Abra Warmihuañusca (Dead Woman´s Pass – 4200m/13776ft), we may see domesticated llamas and alpacas feeding on Ichu, one of the few plants that grow at this altitude.

We will also cross an area of the called cloud forest, which is the habitat for many kinds of birds like hummingbirds, sparrows, and the Andean bear! We advise that on this day, your daypack is well stocked with candies, chocolates, and coca leaves/candy that will keep your sugar level high and help with altitude sickness. Immediately after the pass, we descend into the Pacaymayo Valley (3600m/11808ft), where we camp after approximately 7h of hiking.

After going over the pass, we descend towards Yanacocha (Black Lagoon) and enter the cloud forest to finally arrive at Sayacmarca (3624m/11887ft). This is a beautiful complex made up of semi-circular construction, enclosures at different levels, narrow streets, fountains, patios, and irrigational canals.

Continuing up an easy climb, we arrive at the third pass, the Abra Phuyupatamarca (3700m/12136ft). Phuyupatamarca means ‘town above the clouds, the clouds formed in the valleys of the cloud forest are already dissolved at this height. Along this climb, we will appreciate the magnitude of the Incas´ ancient work! (Terraces, semidetached paths, and small water canals)

We will pass through an Inca tunnel to arrive at the Abra Phuyupatamarca. This is one of the most complete and best-preserved archaeological complexes along the Inca Trail towards Machu Picchu and is located on the highest point of a mountain. From above, one can observe the sophisticated sacred complex made up of water fountains with solid foundations and impressive views of the Urubamba River valley. We continue our trek down the long descending stone steps that lead us to Wiñaywayna (2650m/8692ft), an impressive Inca complex made up of an agricultural center with numerous terraces, a religious temple, and an urban sector, close to which our camp is located.
